Sweat and Tears ran down my face.
My heart was pounding against my chest like a convicted felon beats on his jail cell.
I finally made it to this point.
I stood on a rock, my eyes focused on father. He was standing on the edge of the cliff.
He put his hands in the air and got on his knees with a smirk.
“You finally got me”
“Stay quiet” I lashed out at him
“6 months and you did it” He giggled.
I pulled out the gun on the man.
Looked straight through his eyes into his soul. He had no remorse for anything he did.
“What about Mom, Jonny, and Leslie?” I yelled
“All a sacrifice for the greater good, boy, a sacrifice”
He turned and faced the open plains that were underneath the cliff.
“Why? Why? Why?” I cried. My lungs began to fight for air.
I couldn’t breathe. My mind was rushing through the millions of reasons why my father would have done what he did but I could not find one. “We all loved You!”
“I know” was his reply.
I cocked the gun. My hand was paralyzed.
16 years I spent with this man. The same man that taught me how to ride my bike, serve others, love people, talk to females, protect the family; this same man took everyone from me.
“You were never like us Rob, Mother never told you, you were never one of us!”
“You’re sick” I replied “You’re not thinking straight!”
“Yes…Yes I am indeed sick, The doctors told me I wouldn’t survive this one Rob. If I'm going to die… I wanted to do it knowing i’ll get to see my family in the after life” He began to sob.
“Why didn’t you kill me? Then we could have all been together.” I yelled
“Because Rob…You are not my son. Go live your life, find your real family, find your real sister and brother and mother. They're somewhere out there.”
My head was filled with confusion. This explained the weird looks from everyone, the reason why mother showed Jonny and Leslie more care, the reason why I never got my college paid for...
"I am a nobody" I fell to my knees in defeat.
"I'm glad you know" He laughed.
And he went and flew with the birds.
ALL GLORY TO GOD
